Description

Sultamicillin is a combination antibiotic containing sultamicillin, which is a double ester of ampicillin and sulbactam. Once ingested, it is hydrolyzed to release ampicillin and sulbactam in the body. Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that enhances the effectiveness of ampicillin by protecting it from degradation by beta-lactamase enzymes produced by certain bacteria.

Indications for Sultavin (375 mg):

1. Respiratory Tract Infections:

   • Upper respiratory tract infections (e.g., sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis)
   • Lower respiratory tract infections (e.g., bronchitis, pneumonia)

2. Urinary Tract Infections:

   • Acute and chronic cystitis
   • Pyelonephritis
   • Urethritis

3. Skin and Soft Tissue Infections:

   • Cellulitis
   • Impetigo
   • Wound infections
   • Abscesses

4. Intra-abdominal Infections:

   • Peritonitis
   • Cholecystitis

5. Gynecological Infections:

   • Endometritis
   • Pelvic inflammatory disease

6. Bone and Joint Infections:

   • Osteomyelitis
   • Septic arthritis

7. Surgical Prophylaxis:

   • Used to prevent infections before and after surgical procedures.

Description
